In the past three years these distilleries in Austin are making the scene at a rapid pace. The fun part is you can visit many of the taprooms and tasting rooms and try out the selections in a fun social setting.

Kooper Family Whiskey Co.

This family owned distillery was the creation of a husband and wife team who worked for 2 years to come up with a recipe that incorporated organic rye and emphasizes bold and peppery flavors. They have a recently awarded gold medal to prove the work paid off.

Argus Cidery

Fermenting the apple with a European spin is the creation of the Argus Cidery, Austin's first cider house. They make tanin rich, dry ciders that you have the opportunity to try flights of four ciders plus a sparkling version of a Mexican pineapple alcohol called Tepache.
The Revolution Spirits property is shared with Argus Cidery and Last Stand Brewery and the owners hope to partner with as many other local companies as it can. It uses Cuvee beans for the cafecito coffee spirit and pulped fruit from Jester King. It's stronger spirits is the 100 proof Austin Reserve Gin, made by peeling grapefruits to use in the botanical blend.

Backbeat is a stylish bar which includes a cocktail lounge and rooftop patio with stunning views of Austin downtown. Classic and contemporary drinks anchor an the creative menu that also features fine wine, craft beer and a spirit selection focused on whisky, rum, fortified wine and amari. Deep Eddy Distillery

Deep Eddy Vodka, named after the Deep Eddy Pool in Austin which is the oldest spring fed swimming pool in Texas, is the fastest growing spirits in the country. The distillery is a great outdoor drinking destination and has a serious cocktail list. Many love the High Dive Lemonade that comes in a take home mason jar.
