If there’s a list of 50 courses to play before you die this one must be on your list!  Coeur d'Alene course is a must for couples that enjoy golf and pampering or for guys that enjoy guilt-free golf while their significant others are spoiled by the pleasures of 5 star spa treatment. The Coeur d'Alene Golf Resort is just as perfectly manicured as Augusta National, plus it’s located on the shores of gorgeous Lake Coeur d’ Alene----much more beautiful than the Augusta, GA countryside.

Located in the Idaho panhandle Coeur d'Alene Resort sits on the northern tip of the huge Lake Coeur d’Alene. According to USA Today, "It's a great town on a gorgeous lake in a too-good-to-believe climate where it virtually never rains from spring to fall, is consistently warm and sunny, and there are miraculously no bugs." Plus there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area, including hiking and biking trials, cruises and excursions, helicopter tours, casinos, boat rentals, white water rafting, boat and kayak rentals, fishing, museums, shopping, and more - you won't run out of something fun to see and do.

The Coeur d'Alene Resort offers a variety of rooms from the traditional to mountain or lake views to rooms with a fireplace and floor to ceiling windows offering a fantastic panoramic view of the lake. You won't run out of choices for dinning either - from a 5 star restaurant to the casual nautical setting at the Beachhouse Restaurant. For nightlife you'll find casual bars or a romantic backdrop with live jazz. The bars and restaurants of Coeur d'Alene and the surrounding lake country are super.  What a perfect break from a Texas summer.

Although the Spa Coeur d'Alene did not start out to be a romantic getaway, it has nonetheless become one, having been named "The World's Most Romantic Spa " in a special report for the Sherman's Travel newsletter and featured on MSNBC.com. The $10 million spa features the acclaimed $100,000 SilverTAG Shower, the region's first medi-spa, as well as a private grooming enclave exclusively for men, equipped with a Ferrari-red leather barber chair, and treatments derived from the surrounding nature. The Spa's unique treatments for men and women include wraps, exfoliations, massage, facials and hydrotherapy baths and a number of signature treatments. Conde Nast Traveler has recently named The Spa Coeur d'Alene as one of the Top 54 Resort Spas in America. The rating was based on 4,000 readers voting on location/setting, treatments, staff/service, rooms, diet/cuisine and staff/services. The Spa Coeur d'Alene ranked at #21 overall with particularly high marks on signature treatments.

But we came here for the golf and Coeur d' Alene has become known for it's famous (infamous in my case) 14th hole………….the world’s only floating green.  The green is built on a giant raft which is on a set of cables that can be moved so the par-three plays different distances from shore each day. Because the green moves, there is no bridge to the green, instead a Coast Guard licensed captain whisks you from tee to green in a small boat to putt out, and then takes you back again.

The floating green is typical of the character of the Coeur d'Alene golf course, but there is much more to the Resort and Golf Course than just a floating green. As a resort guest, you are transported to the golf course in a hand crafted mahogany lake shuttle, called the The Eagle & Double Eagle. When you step off the boat, your forecaddie for the day is there to greet you. Then it's off to the practice range in a state-of-the-art custom golf cart to the scenic over-water practice facility - you actually hit practice balls into the lake and they float back to shore each afternoon! You can warm up your body with a complimentary sports massage. Then you're off to experience a course that has been rated #11 best resort course in the nation and #1 in the category of "Beauty and Esthetics" by Golf Digest. What an experience!

It's hard to compete with Coeur d'Alene, but about 20 minutes down the road is an excellent course at the Circling Raven Casino. Located on Tribal land in Worley, Idaho, the Coeur d' Alene Casino Resort Hotel is ranked as the #1 destination spot in Idaho. The Casino offers gaming, entertainment, restaurants, lodging, gift shop and other amenities.

Rather than loose our money, we spent it on another fantastic course - Circling Raven Golf Course. This 7,189 yard course is built on 620 acres
of wetlands, woodlands, and natural Palouse grasses. It has won a number of accolades including: 2008 Golfweek Magazine's #11 best casino course in America and "Top 10 Best New Courses" from Golf Magazine and Golf Digest.
