Gulf Shores Beachfront Rental

Blue Parrot #7For our family vacation to Gulf Shores, we (our two daughters, one husband, and our 5 grandkids) rented a beachfront home in Gulf Shores from Harris Property Rentals. Our rental, the Blue Parrot #7, was one half of a duplex on West Beach Road, which is the main road that goes along the beach in Gulf Shores. Our side of the duplex had 2 bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs and 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms upstairs and it comfortably slept 12 without having to use the sleeper sofa or an air mattress that always goes flat.

I'm excited about telling you about this beachfront rental house in Gulf Shores because from our perspective it was perfect and we can't wait to get back to Gulf Shores and rent it again.

Some of the reasons we loved Blue Parrot #7 from Harris Property Rentals include:

  • first and foremost if you're going to rent something in Gulf Shores, you want it right on the beach and with Blue Parrot you can walk out the door, cross over the squeaky pure white sand for 150 yards and jump into the clear blue water of the Gulf of Mexico
  • the Blue Parrot is well maintained and equipped with everything you need for a fun vacation from pots and pans to DVD players
  • the 5 bedrooms all have very comfy beds, soft pillows, high thread count sheets, fans that don't squeak or rattle, dresser drawers, and flat screen TVs - and a master bedroom with a big bathroom and a deck with a beautiful view of the ocean

  • there is covered parking for 3 cars under the house and room for at least two more
  • you can't beat the large deck with chairs, a picnic table, and a bench seat that overlook a private pool (shared with the other part of the duplex) and the ocean
  • between the pool and a small dune leading to the beach is a wide sandy area perfect for young kids that you can easily watch and quickly yell commands to from the deck - perfect for playing catch, burying kids in the sand, or sipping a cold beer without having to lug a heavy cooler and beach chairs down to the water

  • instead of just one trash can which is always packed to the brim, the Blue Parrot has 5 big ones and trash is picked up twice a week
  • the house layout is fantastic for a big family or group of families - there is a large living area with a big screen TV, a dining table with 8 chairs, three bedrooms upstairs, one bedroom with two sets of bunk beds and another bedroom with a king bed downstairs
  • it's always about location, location, location and Blue Parrot is in a perfect location just a mile and a half from the start of the majority of the bars, shops, restaurants, and lots of fun things to see and do - in fact it's one of the first rows of beach front homes after the end of all the high rise condos

Blue Parrot was clean and well maintained, the kitchen was well stocked and not just with a bunch of old warped pots and pans and a toaster that didn't work - all of the cupboards were full with lots of pots and pans, two sets of silverware, plenty of plates, bowls, and glasses. The big refrigerator kept all our beer cold and the ice maker actually worked. And you won't run out of fresh coffee because there are three different coffee makers including a Keurig. The Weber BBQ grill was clean and not rusted out like the grills at most other rentals. Each of the three bathrooms had plenty of towels and a tub with a shower. The dining table had chairs for 8 and the breakfast bar with 4 stools was perfect for the grandkids. The kids didn't mind being sent to bed because they loved their bedroom thanks to two cool wooden post bunk beds and a TV!

The kids (ok and the parents and grandparents) had a blast playing frisbee, lacrosse, baseball, and bocce ball on the beach, skim boarding, jumping the waves, looking for crabs at night with a flashlight, burying each other in the sand, making sand castles, collecting sea shells, and more. They were up early and out the door and only stopped playing when we loaded them in the car for lunch, dinner, or some activity. They had so much fun, by 10 PM they were sound asleep giving us adults some quiet time for our games.

It was hard for all of us to leave the Blue Parrot but we pulled ourselves away each day for lunch on the beach, some activity, happy hour, and some great seafood for dinner. Some of our activities included: miniature golf, go carts, a kayak trip, an airboat ride to see some gators, a ropes course, an afternoon at the Pensacola Naval Air Museum, and some good music and drinks while the kids played on the beach. We had a blast and can't wait to come back and do it again. Here is a link to our article on a Spring Break Vacation to Golf Shores.
