Thank God For Weekends

Lake Austin

June, 2006

We spent the day on Lake Austin which is a Texas Outside Favorite Lake because of its scenic beauty, constant level, great lakeside camping, clear water, and lots to see and do. We launched at the south end of the 360 bridge and headed north for some skiing and boarding. Get up early and you can always find some great water -- the closer to the dam the colder but smoother the water and lots less traffic.

After skiing we like to have a drink and burger at Ski Shores. Occasionally in the early afternoon they have music on the deck. We could sit on the deck for hours playing dominos or cribbage and watching all the other boats.

Finally pulled ourselves away and headed down river to watch a couple golfers hit their shots wide and into the lake. After that got boring, we motored over to the cove directly across from the golf course. The shallow water here is not the cleanest but it is a popular site for rafting together, swimming, and socializing.

We drug our waterlogged bodies onto the boat and started cruising south to marvel at the beautiful houses that line the shoreline -- where does all that money come from?

As we headed south, the boat took over and parked us at Lucy's Boat Yard for some appetizers and drinks on their deck.

After Lucy's it was time for a final dip and back up river to listen to some good music on the deck of Ski Shores.
