Lake Buchanan Waterfront Cabins & Lodging

Waterfall on Lake BuchananHere is our list of some of the best Lake Buchanan cabins, rentals, lodges, and resorts for a weekend escape or a vacation on the lake. Lake Buchanan is a good sized lake (23,060 acres, maximum width of 4.9 miles, 124 miles of shoreline, and 31 miles long) that is the highest and broadest of the six Highland Lakes that stair step their way down the Colorado River to Austin.

Compared to the other Highland Lakes it is the most remote and substantially less crowded than any of the other lakes. The water is not real clear (not many Texas lakes are clear) but not bad, there are some great coves and areas for skiing, boarding, or tubing, and the fishing for catfish and largemouth bass is excellent. Lake Buchanan has some restaurants to boat up too, a scenic waterfall, boat and kayak rentals, and lots more to see and do. Make sure you check out the resource box below the Lake Buchanan Lake Rental listing and you'll find fun things to see and do on the lake, where to rent a boat, more information on the the lake, our review of Lake Buchanan, and a cool interactive clickable lake map that will help you locate ramps, lodging, golf courses, campgrounds, and more.
