If you are looking for a weekend escape or golf Stay and Play in the Texas Hill Country, then you need to call Lake Travis Golf Vacations and book one of their two bedroom cottages which are on the fantastic Lakecliff Country Club golf course. The cottages and Lakecliff are in Spicewood on a bluff above beautiful Lake Travis - about 40 minutes west of downtown Austin. The cottages are well appointed and comfortable, the golf course is fun and memorable, and there is plenty to see and do if you get tired of golfing.

Golf
Lakecliff Golf Course is a private golf course that is available to guests who stay at the cottage. Lakecliff was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in 2003. The par 71 course is 6,750 yards from the tips and has a rating of 72.2 and a slope of 123. You're going to love this course - it has a little bit of everything that you look for in a quality golf course. You'll find: scenic beauty as the course meanders through the gently rolling terrain above Lake Travis; near perfect bent grass greens; fairways that are in excellent condition; water hazards; dog legs and some blind shots; plenty of fluffy sand traps; lots of variety; lots of variety and some fun holes; and a couple of risk reward shots. The rolling fairways are intercepted by lakes, streams, ponds and waterfalls which are spilling down deep ravines as they make their way to Lake Travis.

The fairways were in excellent condition and wide enough that if you spray your shot you're not severely penalized. As you approach the greens, you need to study your shot carefully and accuracy is required as the greens are very well protected with multiple bunkers. The greens are bent grass and some of the best in Texas - true and fast with some minor slope and undulation. There are 5 par 3's and they are some of the best in Texas - challenging, unique, and fun to play.

There is also a complete practice area with multiple bunkers, putting green, and a short game practice area. The Club House has a small restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner; locker room with day use lockers and a shower; and a fairly well equip ted Pro Shop. The staff is outstanding - friendly, helpful, and outgoing.
Lakecliff is a very fun, playable, and memorable course - one that you will want to come back and play again. Read our review of Lake Cliff Golf Course to lean more. Click here to see more pictures of this great golf course.
