Brief Overview:
Dellanera RV Park is owned and operated by the City of Galveston and is about 9 miles from downtown. It sits between a small pond and the Gulf of Mexico which is just across a dune. They offer 63 full hookup and 21 partial hookup sites plus day parking for the beach.
Amenities and Fun Things To Do:
The park has 84 sites which are a mixture of deluxe (paved, water, sewer, and electric; 30 & 50 amp), full (electric, water, sewer), partial (electric, water), and dry (no hookups). Prices in 2006 ranged from $20 to $42 a night and a little less during the off season which is October to May. All of the sites have a picnic table and most are very close to each other - you will most likely get to know your neighbor when you camp here. Some of the other amenities include: clean restrooms and shower, small store, laundry room, dump station, playground, and meeting room. The campground is located just on the other side of the dune area making access to the beach very easy. If you stand on a picnic table you should be able to see the water from your site. You can hear the waves, but sometimes it is washed out by the traffic on the main road.
A Typical Texas Outsider Day:
We will spend some time: - on the beach soaking up the rays, swimming, or playing games - flying kits, bocce ball, ladder golf, paddle ball, or lawn darts
- riding bikes along the seawall into town, on the beach, in and around the State Park and its nature area, or through some of the housing developments on the beach
- playing golf - Galveston Island Golf Course
- visiting some of the tourist attractions like Moody Gardens or Schlitterbahn
- pr enjoying the shopping, restaurants, and nightlife around the Strand

Texas Outside uses a tough rating scale and it’s difficult for a campground to get a “10”. Each park is rated on:
- Scenic Beauty: a campground that is flat with no trees or character gets a “1” and hills, lots of trees, beautiful lake site, and lush ground cover gets a “10”
- Park Condition: the cleaner, well kept, and maintained campgrounds receive high scores
- Amenities: we are looking for lots of amenities like restrooms, dump stations, playgrounds, boat ramps, shelters, concession stand, rental toys, and more.
- Campsites: low scores are given for sites that are right next to each other (good for getting to know your neighbors, but not what we’re looking for when we’re camping); have no lantern holder, no water or electricity, no fire pit, no grill, or no picnic table (or it’s rotten wood); have no trees and no view; the ground cover is crushed rock (my bare feet hate that stuff!); and they require a lot of work to get your rig level.
- Things To Do: Bonus points are given for campgrounds that offer lots of fun things to do at the park or very nearby – this includes: biking, hiking, climbing, boating, entertainment, golf, swimming, fishing, volleyball, horseshoes, and more
