Lake Palestine Campground & Lodge Type: Camping - RV Park Texas Outside Favorite Sites: Any of the sites on the water.
Brief Overview: The new owners take pride in offering one of the cleanest and neatest recreational destinations on Lake Palestine. They work hard at providing a friendly and family oriented environment. The owners have some grand plans as part of their continuous improvements to the Park which include a new store, restaurant, and 6 to 7 second story suites - all of which should be done by the middle of 2007. Amenities and Fun Things To Do: Lake Palestine has a variety of lodging accommodations including: a two bedroom 900 foot furnished mobile home with a view of the lake; a one bedroom split level suite that sleeps 4 to 6 people; suites with kitchen or kitchenettes; and other lodge rooms. In total there are 14 rooms and most of the lodge rooms and suites are 10 feet from the waters edge. Prices in 2007 ranged from $30 to $140 per night. Some of the other amenities at Lake Palestine Campground include: a cafe serving an excellent breakfast and lunch with a very friendly staff; 2 lane boat ramp; banquet room with three dormitory type rooms; small store with groceries, ice, propane, and fishing gear; laundry room; restroom and shower; and a pavilion. They also rent large and small paddle boats, canoes, 18' and 20' pontoon boats, and kayaks. A Typical Texas Outsider Day: A typical day is spent enjoying the lake for skiing, cruising, or anchoring in a cove for swimming, games, and socializing. You can learn more about Lake Palestine by clicking here. We will typically spend some time on one of the Tyler golf courses. For dinner, we will head just up the road to Coffee and Coffee Landing Restaurant (903 876-4923) which is very good. They have a wide selection of steaks, seafood, sandwiches, and more. But they are best known for their excellent seafood buffet for lunch or dinner. I saw a website that had 7 reviews of Coffee Landing and the average rating was 8.5 out of 10 stars. If you have kids, a trip to Tyler to visit the Caldwell Zoo, World of Wildlife Museum, or Discovery Science Place are all worth the trip.
Cool Nearby Activities: We also enjoy visting Kieperso Estates Winery and sitting on their deck sipping some good wine and enjoying the view of the vineyard and countryside. We struggled to find some lively night life, but did enjoy Half Moon Grill and Salon, which has live music on the weekends, pool, video golf, and a friendly crowd.
