Brief Overview:
Located about 2 miles from downtown Kerrville, Guadalupe River RV Resort is about as close as it comes to getting a perfect rating of 10. This peaceful, clean and very well maintained RV park is along the banks of the beautiful Guadalupe River and offers plenty of things to see and do, both in the park and nearby. You won't find a friendly, more helpful staff that is dedicated to making your stay fun and enjoyable.

The streets are all paved and the sites are level, treed, and have a concrete patio and picnic table. The cabins are immaculate and fully equipped. And best of all, there are plenty of amenities to keep you and the kids entertained.

Amenities and Fun Things To Do:
100_8130Guadalupe River RV Resort has over 300 yards of Guadalupe River frontage, which means you have excellent access to the river for fishing, swimming, tubing, canoeing, picnicking, or barbecuing. If you are into chillin' or relaxing with a good book one of the swings under the oaks and facing the river or the pond with a fountain and swing are perfect - be careful, this setting is so relaxing and soothing that you may just fall asleep and find that you missed dinner!

The Park has 202 sites that are a mixture of level and shaded pull throughs and back-in sites in a variety of different settings. Some of the sites are close to the river, others are set back among some rolling hills that are shaded by beautiful oaks, and the majority of the sites are in rows which are side-by-side like most RV Parks. The side-by-side sites are better landscaped and a little more spacious than what you will find in most other parks. If you do want a more rural, spacious, and scenic site, then you can pick the sites (numbers 1 to 47) that are in the rolling hills and near the foot bridge that crosses the pond with a fountain. What makes makes Guadalupe River RV Resort unique and different from most others parks are the trees, variety of sites, paved roads and level sites, private concrete patio and picnic table, grill, and full hookups including phone and cable. All of the pull throughs are long enough to accommodate most large rigs and their towed vehicles.

In addition to some very good RV sites, Guadalupe River RV Resort has 16 one and two bedroom cabins most of which are riverfront with great views and access to the river. The cottages are very well maintained, extremely clean, and completely furnished with utensils and bedding. The cabins will sleep either 4 or 5 people and each cabin has a kitchen with a dining table and chairs for 4, coffeemaker, toaster, microwave, refrigerator, stove with an oven, pots, pans, utensils and table service for six. They all have a TV, bathroom, telephone, and an outside picnic table and grill.

Some of the other amenities include:

  • high speed wireless Internet, plus a computer with cable hookup in the rec room
  • laundry room with ironing boards and irons
  • restroom and showers
  • clubhouse next to the pool with a kitchen, fireplace, game room, big screen TV and VCR, restroom, showers, and laundry room
  • steam room, dry heat sauna, and a spa
  • exercise area and equipment
  • a huge playground for the kids complete with a fort, suspension bridge and tree house
  • swings close to the river
  • 6000 square foot pavilion with a kitchen, dance floor, and raised stage for special events

Part of what makes Guadalupe River RV Resort an outstanding park is all the fun things to do within the park - making it more of a Resort than just your standard RV Park. For example:

  • pool table
  • ping pong table
  • 3 pools - a family pool, an adults only pool, plus an indoor heated pool
  • basketball
  • horseshoe pits
  • 2 shuffleboard courts
  • volleyball
  • stand alone gameroom with a video, pool, and other games
  • outdoor stage and dance floor for music and other special events

We have been camping for too many years to count and Guadalupe River RV Resort is the only park that we have found that has a saloon - the very cool River Rock Saloon. The River Rock Saloon has a small u-shaped fully stocked bar, TVs, jukebox and an outstanding stone patio and fire pit under the oak trees. What a great place to have a drink, relax, or socialize! In 2009, the saloon will be expanded to twice its size. On holidays like St Patties Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day Guadalupe River resort sponsors a party and live bands on a stage near the river and under the oak trees and stars - a perfect place to party and listen to some great music. In between those dates, weekends at the Saloon will have live music, food, and more. Friday nights are always Happy Hour all evening and occasionally you'll find a Speciality Soup and snacks - from Chicken & Dumplings to Chicken Enchilada, to Lumberjack Vegetable Beef All pf which goes great with cold beer or Jack. d live music at the Saloon.

A Typical Texas Outsider Day:

When staying at Guadalupe River RV Resort, we'll spend time: enjoying the river; playing some rounds of competitive games (pool, ping pong, shuffle board, and washers) and volleyball if we can round up enough people. A fun way to spend a few hours is to rent a kayak or canoe from Kerrville Kayak and Canoe and enjoy the Guadalupe River.

We also enjoy a round of golf at Scott Schreiner Municipal Golf Course in Kerrville or Tapatio Springs in Boerne. For nightlife, we enjoy the country bands and dancing at Inn of the Hills or Cafe Riverston's Back Porch. And of course we always head over to the park's River Rock Saloon for a cold beer, good friends, and music - and no need to worry about driving home.

We can't leave town without having an excellent dinner on the outdoor patio overlooking the Guadalupe River at River's Edge - A Tuscan Grill. The gourmet cuisine is outstanding with a variety of choices including pasta, beef tenderloin, veal, and fish. Every table has an excellent view of the river though floor to ceiling windows, but you can't beat sitting outside on the balcony just above the river. Try the Caesar salad and chicken Marsala.

Cool Nearby Activities:
If for some reason you get bored with things to do in the park, or you need to shop, golf, or eat some good food, than you have plenty of choices when you stay at Guadalupe River RV Park. Here are some of Texas Outside's favorite things to do:

  • cruise along scenic highway 1340 out of Hunt which follows the Guadalupe river though some very pretty countryside - first stop is to shop the Old Ingram Loop, then lunch in Hunt, then check out the Texas Stonehenge II (and wonder why in the world someone built it), and drive the very scenic road along the Guadalupe River (make sure you stop and enjoy the river)
  • enjoy the Guadalupe River by renting a kayak or canoe from Kerrville Kayak and Canoe.
  • if you like James Avery jewelry, than stop by their campus
  • go horseback ridding at Y.O. Ranch or Mo-Ranch - also try the ropes course at Mo-Ranch
  • check out downtown Kerrville for the shops, museums, and restaurants
  • plan on attending the Kerrville Folk Festival in May/June each year for some fantastic music
  • take the mountain bikes to ride the novice to intermediate trails at Kerrville-Schreiner State Park and then rent a tube at the park and tube the Guadalupe
  • explore nearby Fredericksburg, Boerne, or Comfort for great antique shopping, good restaurants, and some excellent attractions
  • there are some great road bike routes and some fantastic mountain bike trails (Hill Country State Natural Area in Bandera, Kelly Creek Ranch in Ingram, or Flat Rock Ranch in Comfort) if you want something a little tougher than Kerrville-Schreiner State Park

If you are a golfer you have lots of outstanding choices - check out Texas Outside's Golfing Section to find some courses, course reviews, and other golf related information. Our favorite course is The Ridge in Tapatio Springs. You are also close to Fredericksburg, San Antonio, Boerne, and Comfort - all of which have great quaint antique shops, good restaurants, and fun things to see and do. Check Discover Texas to find out more about what to see and do in the area. Golf, cities

Texas Outside Campground Rating System

Texas Outside uses a tough rating scale and it’s difficult for a campground to get a “10”.  Each park is rated on:

  • Scenic Beauty: a campground that is flat with no trees or character gets a “1” and hills, lots of trees, beautiful lake site, and lush ground cover gets a “10”
  • Park Condition:  the cleaner, well kept, and maintained campgrounds receive high scores
  • Amenities: we are looking for lots of amenities like restrooms, dump stations, playgrounds, boat ramps, shelters, concession stand, rental toys, and more.
  • Campsites:  low scores are given for sites that are right next to each other (good for getting to know your neighbors, but not what we’re looking for when we’re camping); have no lantern holder, no water or electricity, no fire pit, no grill, or no picnic table (or it’s rotten wood); have no trees and no view; the ground cover is crushed rock (my bare feet hate that stuff!); and they require a lot of work to get your rig level.
  • Things To Do: Bonus points are given for campgrounds that offer lots of fun things to do at the park or very nearby – this includes: biking, hiking, climbing, boating, entertainment, golf, swimming, fishing, volleyball, horseshoes, and more
