Brief Overview:
Located in the heart of the hill country and along the banks of the Frio River is an outstanding 13 acre family campground - Parkview Riverside RV Resort. With views of "Old Baldy" mountain, Parkview offers a beautiful, tranquil, and scenic place to camp away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Parkview is located across the Frio River from Garner State Park and has very good access to the cool, clear, and deep water of the Frio River. The river is lined with huge cypress trees and the water is a beautiful shade of jade green. In this country setting it is commonplace to see deer, turkey, and other wildlife wandering around the park.

We have not yet had the opportunity to stay at this Park, as such this review is based on talking to some people, reading some reviews, and other input. From all indications, the Park is clean, very well maintained, and the staff is hospitable and helpful. We have rated the Park an 8 until we have a chance to visit and formally review Parkview Riverside.

If you have Passport America, you can save some money when you stay here. Parkview Riverside is very popular during the summer months, so make a reservation early.

ATTENTION WINTER TEXANS - Parkview Riverside is a Winter Texan's Paradise with moderate temperatures, plenty to do, and low off season rates. Fall and winter are fantastic seasons to revel in the region's sprawling hills, streams, and wooded areas where wildlife abounds. Bird enthusiasts from around the globe are drawn to this region during late winter through spring to witness birds making their annual migration. The permanent bird population is impressive with hundreds of species prevalent year round. The fall and winter weather is perfect for hiking, biking, and relaxing along the banks of the river. Plus, from Labor Day to Memorial Day, Parkview Memorial is offering a coupon which is good for one month is free with every 3 month stay!

Amenities and Fun Things To Do:
Parkview10The 93 "Texas sized" sites are fully equipped with electric service (20/30/50 amps), water and sewer hook-ups. Of the 93 sites, 25 are riverfront, 17 are pull throughs, and the rest are back-in. A majority of the sites have trees for shade, picnic tables, and fire rings with a grill. The Park's wide roads are paved but the individual sites are gravel.

Sites 1 to 25 sit on a bluff 20 to 30 feet above the river, affording excellent views of the river and Old Baldy Mountain. To help you enjoy the view, Parkview has added a sewer connection on each side of the site, giving you the option to back-in or pull-in to take advantage of the view from within your rig. Most of the sites are over-sized, spacious, and offer views of the beautiful hill country.

One of the reasons to stay at Parkview is to enjoy the beautiful Frio River. The Park is about 400 yards downstream from a dam, so the water is always clear, clean, and about 15 feet deep - excellent for swimming, tubing, paddleboating, fishing, or just chillin' on the shore. It is easy to get to the river from three different access points.

Texas Outside Campground Rating System

Texas Outside uses a tough rating scale and it’s difficult for a campground to get a “10”.  Each park is rated on:

  • Scenic Beauty: a campground that is flat with no trees or character gets a “1” and hills, lots of trees, beautiful lake site, and lush ground cover gets a “10”
  • Park Condition:  the cleaner, well kept, and maintained campgrounds receive high scores
  • Amenities: we are looking for lots of amenities like restrooms, dump stations, playgrounds, boat ramps, shelters, concession stand, rental toys, and more.
  • Campsites:  low scores are given for sites that are right next to each other (good for getting to know your neighbors, but not what we’re looking for when we’re camping); have no lantern holder, no water or electricity, no fire pit, no grill, or no picnic table (or it’s rotten wood); have no trees and no view; the ground cover is crushed rock (my bare feet hate that stuff!); and they require a lot of work to get your rig level.
  • Things To Do: Bonus points are given for campgrounds that offer lots of fun things to do at the park or very nearby – this includes: biking, hiking, climbing, boating, entertainment, golf, swimming, fishing, volleyball, horseshoes, and more
