Front Nine Rating: 8.5 Stars Back Nine Rating: 8.0 Stars Approximate Weekend Price Range: $24.00 to $41.00 Where To Get Coupons: website Brief Description: Riverside Golf Club is situated along the banks of the Trinity River just south of DFW Airport and it is consistently ranked as one of the top courses in the Metroplex. In 2006 Avid Golfer rated it #20 Top Courses in the Metroplex, #4 in Value Price Category, and #2 Best Cart Girls. We didn't rate the cart girls, but we sure agree that Riverside is one of the best in the Metroplex and an excellent value. Each of the holes on this links style course is unique and the holes include plenty of dog legs, water, and traps. Club selection and specifically your iron approach shots are critical if you want to score well - water, narrow approaches, island greens, and steep faced bunkers (do whatever you can to avoid these guys or you may be in them for a couple strokes) protect the greens. When we played, the greens were in above average condition, fast, and most had a gentle slope. The fairways were in excellent shape and strategically placed traps and a little water, can cause a problem if you can't hit it straight. Use of the GPS can help with club management. Riverside Golf Club doesn't have the best drive up appeal and the club house and amenities could use improvement, but you shouldn't let that discourage you from playing this outstanding, challenging, and fun course. Rumor has it that whenever it rains Riverside is underwater because the course runs along side the Trinity River - Brian the General Manager assures us that is not the case.

Here's How Texas Outside Determines the Scorecard RatingThe Texas Outside rating scale ranges from 1 to 10 – a perfect 10 course would be something like this: links along a cliff overlooking the Pacific ocean and bordered by tall trees; lush fairways on rolling hills with lots of natural hazards; water (which is crystal clear) on most of the holes; immaculate greens (but they are undulating and tough); lots of variety and character (each hole is completely different and includes blind shots, elevation changes, doglegs, and significant challenges); perfectly manicured traps with the whitest and prettiest sand you’ve ever seen; a nice club house with great food and a 19th hole; a GPS; plenty of beverage carts or your own cooler and ice; and it only costs $40 bucks! What this means is that you probably won’t find any 10s in Texas – try Cabo San Lucas, Pebble Beach, or some of the Hawaii courses!
All of the above determines the overall score for the golf course. In other words, we like courses that are pretty, fun, very challenging with a lot of variety, and fairways and greens in excellent condition – all for $40. We also tend to play the courses that are affordable for the masses, which means in the $30 to $80 range. We rate hard and we haven’t found a 10 in Texas yet – don’t worry we haven’t given up and we’re still looking.
