The Crossing at Carlsbad

Carlsbad, CA

Texas Outside Rating - 9.2

Review of The Crossings at Carlsbad

Greg Nash, the designer of the Crossing at Carlsbad created two very fun and different nines - each with it's own unique personality and characteristics. The front nine plays along the top of a mountain ridge offering views of the Pacific Ocean and this nine has some really fun and challenging holes that will throw a little bit of everything at you.

The back starts on the ridge, offering dramatic elevation changes, and then plays down to the valley and along a wetland and then traverses back up to the top. Along the way you'll need to carry deep ravines off the tee box and avoid them on the approach shots.

Review of Pelican Hill Ocean North Course

What a spectacular 18 holes designed by Tom Fazio. Playing Ocean North is as much about playing golf as it is about the scenic vistas from every hole of the sparkling blue Pacific Ocean, the hillsides dotted with huge multi-million dollar mansions, and the view of Newport Beach.

When you take your eyes off the views, you'll need to focus on managing sparkling white bunkers, dramatic elevation changes, forced carries, rolling fairways, and challenging green complexes.

Review of Pelican Hill Ocean South Course

This fantastic 18 hole course which was designed by Tom Fazio has some outstanding holes that are fun, challenging, and scenic. You start this 18 at an upscale clubhouse and play down to a bluff above the Pacific Ocean and then back up to the clubhouse where you'll need a cold drink and start to make plans to play this course again.

This 18 is tree lined with rolling and contoured fairways that lead to some big but very challenging near perfect greens that are fast and have plenty of slope and contour. The three holes along a bluff with the smell of the ocean, the sounds of the waves breaking on the rocks and sand, and some barking seals are stunning.

Review of Aviara Golf Club

Named by Golf Digest and Golf Magazine as one of the best resort golf courses in America, this Arnold Palmer golf course is like chasing a golf ball through a botanical garden with vibrant red, white, lavender, and yellow native wild flowers, a variety of trees and shrubs plus several cascading waterfalls and bubbling streams feeding ponds.

The golf course will also grab and demand your attention with some fantastic holes with strategically placed white sand bunkers, big challenging greens in near perfect conditions, and lots of berms, mounds, and rolling fairways that create a memorable round of golf.
