20 LCRA Parks In Texas For Camping & Outdoor Activities

The LCRA parks are perfect for camping, swimming, kayaking, hiking, fishing, boating, and lots more outdoor adventures and activiites. The LCRA (Lower Colorado River Authority) provides energy, water and community services for the people of Texas. The multitude of vital services to Texans include delivering electricity, managing the water supply and environment of the lower Colorado River basin, provide public recreation areas, and support community and economic development. LCRA manages more than 16,000 acres of recreational lands along the lower Colorado River from the Texas Hill Country to the Gulf Coast. The list below shows all the LCRA parks in Texas and what each have to offer in recreation and camping.

Central Texas Parks

Black Rock Park

This 25 acre park offers water and outdoor recreation with 32 campsites and 18 cabins is great for rental facilities and group activities.

Canyon of the Eagles

Because of the location of this 940 acre park it is a refuge for endangered species and sightings of a variety of wildlife. There are 61 guest rooms plus RV and campsites.

Camp Creek Park

This 40 acre park sitting on the north end of Lake Travis provides a great spot for fishing, kayaking and swimming then camping in one of their 16 campsites.

Gloster Bend Recreation Area

Cedar Point Recreation Area

Grelle Recreation Area

Because this park has 7 miles of wooded trails it is ideal for mountain biking, horseback riding and hiking. It is located on the south shore of Lake Travis and so it is also popular for fishing, swimming, and canoeing/kayaking. There are 15 campsites available in this park.

This 62 acre day use park located on the north side of Lake Austin is ideal for picnicking, swimming, fishing, and canoeing/kayaking.

This 182 acre park has an aquatic playground, Hero Water Sports which is fun for everyone. The park also has water craft rentals, picnic areas, hike and bike trails, as well as, RV and tent camping.

38 campsites and 18 cabins are available at this 176 acre park that also has water craft rentals, and is great for fishing, hiking/biking, and swimming.

McKinney Roughs Nature Park

On this 1,100 acre nature park visitors can explore close to 18 miles of trails by foot or 12 miles on horseback. You will also find a challenge course, as well as, zip line.

Muleshoe Bend Recreation Area

Spicewood, TX

Mountain bike and hike at this 654-acre park that has 9.8 miles of trails. Take in the scenic lake views at the 34 large, secluded campsites. Watercraft rentals are available.

Narrows Recreation Area

Pedernales River Nature Park

Located on 2,000 acre Lake Fayette you will have options to picnic, hike/bike, canoeing/kayaking, fishing, swimming, and camping in one of the 20 campsites, 6 screened shelters, and 8 cabins.

Lake Fayette Park Prairie Park

You have the option of tent camping or screened shelters for an overnight stay after a day of fishing, hiking, biking, and picnicking

Matagorda Bay Nature Park
