Approximately
10miles of hiking trails are located in the park: the
East Trail is a 4.2-mile loop; the West Trail is a
3.4-mile loop; and the West Trail Loop in the northwest
corner of the park is 1.8 miles. Several overlooks with
spur trails are located at high vantage points along the
primitive trails. There are portions of the trail that
are quite strenuous; grade changes of several hundred
feet are encountered on several trails. Proper shoes,
wearing apparel, and physical condition should be
considered when planning the route; water should be
carried.
The
Maple Trail, popular with day-hikers, is a developed
nature trail approximately 1,400 feet long. Eight
designated primitive camping areas with 3 composting
toilets are accessible to hikers. Ground fires are not
allowed; only containerized fuel stoves are acceptable.
