Several overlooks with spur trails are located at high vantage points along the primitive trails. Proper shoes, wearing apparel, and physical condition should be considered when planning the route; water should be carried.

The Maple Trail, popular with day-hikers, is a developed nature trail approximately 1,400 feet long. Eight designated primitive camping areas with 3 composting toilets are accessible to hikers. Ground fires are not allowed; only containerized fuel stoves are acceptable.
