Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Review - Albuquerque

Isleta Eagle Golf Hole and The Hard Rock HotelOn a recent trip to New Mexico to play and review the Santa Fe Golf Trail, we got to spend a couple nights at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque is just seven minutes from the Albuquerque Airport and it is located on the Isleta Pueblo. Isleta means "little island" and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque is an island framed by the majestic Rio Grande Bosque (an oasis-like ribbon of green vegetation), the Manzan Mountains, 27 lush and plush golf holes, and a variety of desert flora and fauna.

For those of you who have never stayed at a Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque, their philosophy of hospitality is that "rock ’n’ roll makes people feel great." That’s been their thinking since they started back in 1971 with a plan to bring together good music, good food, and good people, and have a blast doing it. "Rock stars filled the room, and the partying, not surprisingly, was epic. But eventually, some time before dawn, people would need a place to crash. That’s the inspiration behind Hard Rock Hotels and Casinos. Today the party never ends, and no one has to go home. We’re as passionate about indulgent rest and relaxation as we are about high-energy nightlife. After all, we want you in good shape for the next night." Now that's my kind of hotel! And we really enjoyed our brief stay.

One of the first things you'll notice when you enter the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque is all of the musical related mementos, pictures, posters, and other artifacts. As you enter the hotel you'll see a couple lines from the Beatles and Rolling Stones songs and some huge painted guitars. Every wall of the Hotel seems to be covered with guitars, music posters, pictures of musicians, or some stuff (shoes, clothing, guitars, and more) that were a part of famous musician's lives. For example, there are posters and pictures from Woodstock, one of Elton John's as well as Michael Jackson's stage outfits, several interesting head shots of John Lennon, and lots more.

Exciting Gaming and Entertainment

Craps at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

As you walk into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque you can't help but notice the casino and it's not long before you hear the bells and whistles of the slots paying some lucky winner. There are slot machines of all denominations including some of the old favorites and new ones are being added all the time. There are designated smoking and non smoking rooms and you're sure to find something that will get your pulse going and excited about winning some big bucks. Some of what you can enjoy includes:

Throughout the year, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque is home to some of the hottest entertainment in their legendary showroom. You can enjoy everything from well know national acts and musicians to world class boxing. You can listen to music, dance your socks off, or party in the the trendy nightclub, the Center Bar, or the 777 Lounge. The party never ends!

Hard Rock Accommodations

Our room at the Hard RockHard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque which adjoins the Casino and conference center has 201 guest rooms and suites. We stayed in a standard well appointed room with a very comfortable pillow top king bed with luxurious linen (it was hard getting out of it each morning but golf was calling), large 40" flat screen, a deep soaking bathtub with one of those calming rain shower heads, iPod docking station, free high speed wireless or cable internet, two soft chairs and a table, a spacious bathroom, a view of the mountains, and a quiet air conditioner that actually cooled the room to a setting below 66 degrees!.

Our only minor complaint was there was no in-room coffee pot and the walls are thin meaning you can hear the traffic in the hall and the next door neighbors, one of which in our case had a young crying baby!

In addition to standard rooms like ours, you can choose from:

Dining & Drinks

In addition to good rooms at reasonable room rates, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque has several choices to keep you well fed and happy:

  • Eagle's Nest Buffet has a buffet for breakfast (Saturday and Sunday only), lunch, and dinner. We tried the lunch buffet which was a very eclectic mix of Thai, Chinese, Mexican, American, and BBQ plus several desserts. The lunch buffet changes each day with a new theme and cuisine like Italian, BBQ, Seafood, and the International which we got to experience.
  • TIWA Cafe offers a wide variety of menu items for all appetites plus some excellent desserts from a professional pasty chef
  • For lighter fare including sandwiches, salads, burgers, burritos, and more, the Deli is perfect
  • Dauber's Grill within the showroom has all the favorites that bingo players will enjoy
  • Chill is the place to go for Starbucks coffee, specialty drinks, tasty pastries, and ice cream
  • Triple 777's Sports Bar & Lounge is a great place to relax, enjoy a game and cold beer, as well as some munchies like hot wings
  • 505 Fusion is New Mexico's hottest new scene that blends the chic tones of a sizzling nightspot and the fresh flavors of your favorite foods
  • For Southwestern cuisine made with red or green chili then the cantina style Lucha is the place to dine

And of course there is good old room service for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and prices are not your typical resort prices of $20 for two eggs! In fact, a good hearty breakfast of two eggs, toast, bacon, and hash browns was only $6.95. The lunch buffet was also reasonable at $8.95 and included over 20 different tasty choices, dessert, and drinks! I guess the resort would rather have you spend your money on gaming.

Isleta Eagle Golf Course

Isleta Eagle Golf Course

One of the reasons, we selected the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque was because it is across the street from Isleta Eagle Golf Club, which is one of the 8 fantastic courses on the Santa Fe Golf Trail. After losing some money at the casino, I was eager to see how many golf balls I could lose and to see if I could recover some of my loses at Skins and Bingo, Bango, Bongo - didn't happen, in fact I not only lost 3 balls I had to buy the first two rounds of drinks after our round. But I did enjoy playing all three nines at Isleta Golf Club.

Each of the Isleta Eagle Golf Course nines has a personality and characteristics and was designed around and named after their primary topographic feature:

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque Amenities

Bottom line - the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque is a great place to stay - comfortable rooms, a variety of choices for good food, gaming tables, clean and well appointed, interesting music artifacts, convenient location, reasonable rates, and a great golf course.
