Approximately 100 miles from Lubbock. Take I-27 north to Tulia, and then Texas 86 east to Texas 207 north. The lake includes 910 surface acres and over 6 miles of shoreline. Meckenzie also offers fishing, boating, skiing, beaches, ATV park and camping. Recreation fees are $2 per person (13 and older), $2 per boat and a $3 charge for camping. Lake J.B. Thomas
Approximately 100 miles from Lubbock. Take U.S. 84 south through Snyder to Texas 350, then south on 350 through Ira to FM 1606, and then west to the lake. The lake offers fishing, boating and camping. Even though there is no marina on the lake, there are several maintained boat ramps. Recreation fee are $2 per person ages 17 to 65.
hite River Lake
Approximately 60 miles from Lubbock. Take Texas 114 east to Crosbyton, then south on FM 651 to FM 2794. The lake includes 1,400 surface acres and offers fishing, boating, skiing, beaches and camping areas. Recreation fees cost $2 per person (12 and older), $2 per boat and a $2 charge for camping. Even though the lake has suffered greatly from our region's drought (15 feet low before February), record-breaking spring rains have dumped over 8 feet of water into the lake, saving it from disaster. Lake Colorado City
Approximately 125 miles from Lubbock. The lake includes 1,600 surface acres along with over 5 miles of shoreline. Lake Colorado City offers fishing, boating, skiing, camping, and a 500-acre state park. Recreation fees are $3 per person (ages 13-65), with seniors admitted for free. Camping is also available at $8 per night and $2 per person. RV hookups are available at $11 per night. For more information, contact the state park.
The park is located 16 miles northwest of Brownwood on State Highway 279 to Park Road 15, then east on Park Road 15 for 6 miles. Lake Brownwood offers camping, hiking, boating, water skiing, fishing, and bird watching. Recreation fees are $3 per day, per person 13 and older. Camping is available at $12 per campsite.
