During a fun golfing vacation to Lake of the Ozarks we took a short side trip to visit Seven Springs Winery, a locally owned winery in Linn Creek, to sample some wine and enjoy the view and a good lunch. Seven Springs Winery sits on 160 acres of beautiful heavily treed rolling foothills between Camdenton and Osage Beach, Missouri. The scenic drive into Seven Springs from the main highway is worth the trip!
Seven Springs serves Missouri wines, Sangria, and a few micro-brews plus a light menu consisting of soups, sandwiches, cheese trays, and bread with various dipping oils. Shortly after arriving we were standing at the bar sampling some of the wines grown with their Vignoles and Norton grapes. They offer a variety of Sparking Wines, Dessert Wines, and Red and White Wines. We sampled their delicious signature white wine – Traminette which is a white straw with green hues and is light bodied with a fruity yet off dry finish. We also tried the Seven’s Red Heaven red wine for it’s deep plum color and refreshing crisp fruit flavors and distinct sweet finish. And we couldn’t leave without sampling the Party Cove Sunburned Red (after all, we are on vacation!) which is a light refreshing Sangria Rojo – now I’m ready to hit the beach.
We came to sample the wine as well as enjoy some of the Seven Springs Winery's variety of interesting lunch items like:
We enjoyed the Beef Bourguignon wrap (roast beef with onions and mushroom sauteed in Norton wine and rolled into a whole wheat tortilla with Boursin cheese plus we had the Chicken Salad, and a very tasty Spicy Shrimp & Crab Bisque with wild bay shrimp, lump crab, herbs and cayenne in a rich cream sauce with the recommended pairing of a glass of the Moscato Sparkling. My mouth is watering just thinking about everything that we enjoyed!
After all of that we waddled out to the 3-tiered patio area with waterfalls, beautiful landscaping, and a scenic view of the valley and finished the afternoon with a micro brew. Great wine, good food, a beautiful day, and an outstanding patio – what a fantastic way to spend a few hours.
