One of the great things about Texas is that it offers a wide variety of outdoor activities that you can enjoy year round (although I can’t recommend tubing the Guadalupe in January). This section of Texas Outside is for all of you who love outdoor activities and sports including: hiking, biking, kayaking, climbing, disc golfing, horse back riding, surfing, scuba and snorkeling, windsurfing, tubing (can we call that a sport?), and more. The intent of this section is to provide you with some great locations to enjoy all of the above, some links to information pertaining to each sport, a brief description and rating of trails, and more. We are working on expanding this section – if you can help with your favorite locations, reviews, pictures, and other good stuff, please email us.
If you are planning a trip that will include some or all of the above (for you jocks) you should check out Texas Outside Parks and Camping as well as the Texas Outside Lakes and Boating section – you will find reviews and ratings of State Parks and Texas lakes that also include a wide variety of other activities and fun things to do (biking, hiking, climbing, skiing, boarding, etc.). Thank God for Weekends will also provide some information on sports activities from a recent Texas Outside weekend trip.
One final hint, if you are heading to a Texas city and looking for outdoor activities you will find that for most cities, Texas Outside has listed a number of activities. One of the ways to find this information is in the Discover Texas section of Texas Outside. Find the region you want to explore and then click on the city you plan to visit. Most of the items on the city maps are clickable and each city page will have a number of links to other things to do in and around the city.
Now here's a deal - enjoy some outdoor activities and stay completely free at one of two Thousand Trails locations in Texas. Their resorts on Lake Texoma and Lake Conroe are offering a free 3 day, 2 night getaway for any and all who want to be outdoors. Take advantage of this great offer and enjoy some hiking, biking, kayaking, or other outdoor activities.
