About an hour and a half south west of Dallas is a fun place to spend a weekend - the quaint town of Granbury. Try to plan your weekend around any of the year round Granbury events. You can make this a very fun weekend by:
- staying in a B&B in a historic house in Granbury or a hotel on Lake Granbury - check out Inn on Lake Granbury which is one of the best
 B&Bs in Granbury
- enjoying some good food and music on the deck of the floating Groggy Dawg restaurant
- attending an annual event like the General Granbury Birthday Party Festival for a parade, carnival, cookoff and arts and crafts fair and some great country music at the Brazos River Music Fest (both are the same weekend, usually in March) - go to the Granbury Convention & Visitors Bureau to find an event to attend
- shopping the square and quaint shops - have breakfast or lunch at one of the restaurants or the soda fountain on the square
- dinning on the square and then attending Granbury Live (live music and family entertainment) or Granbury Opera House (for very entertaining musicals, plays and melodramas year round in a historical theater)
- boating Lake Granbury - if you don't have a boat then take a cruise aboard the Granbury Riverboat or rent a boat or jet ski at Groggy Dog Marina
