Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail

This Beautiful gravel pathway circles Town Lake. And is very popular for off-road bicycling, outdoor running, and strolling through Austin by foot. For those arriving by car from the north, the most popular parking spot is the lot by Austin High School, under the bridge that carries MoPac over Town Lake. Those coming from the south by car can park in the lot west of the southern approach of the 1st Street Bridge over Town Lake. Click here for a trail map and to learn more about Town Lake.

Barton Creek Greenbelt

Is accessible from the Hike and Bike Trail from Zilker Park. This is much more challenging than the Town Lake Trail and involves several creek crossings. The trail runs upstream from the parking lot by Barton Springs Swimming Pool. Sometimes this trail is closed after heavy rains or for maintenance. The other major access point is the Loop 360 Access on the north side of the highway, between the Loop 360-MoPac intersection and the Loop 360-Lamar intersection.
