New Mexico, Alabama, and Louisiana have golf trails and now Texas has some Texas Golf Trails that include some of the best golf courses in Texas. The Texas Golf Trails on this page start in far north east Texas on the Azalea Golf Trail and end on the Canongate Golf Trail just south of Houston.

Each of the courses are very unique and different and have their own personality and challenges. All of the courses, except one were rated above an 8 or higher out of 10 on six criteria - condition, challenge, scenic beauty, variety, fun, and value - and a couple are in Texas Outside's Top 20 Public, Top 20 Private, or Top 20 Resort Golf Courses.

Alamo Golf Trail

The Alamo Golf Trail in San Antonio is unique in that it offers a variety of 7 courses that range from old traditional Parkland style flat tree lined courses; to a links course with wide fairways and over 100 bunkers to contend with; to a true hill country course with elevation changes, meandering creeks, waterfalls, and dog legs, and blind shots; to a nine hole par 3 course to practice your game.

Austin Golf Trail

The Austin Golf Trail is home to 18 courses that are a fantastic mix of Austin Municipal, top rated resort, and some public and private courses. In addition to some excellent courses that range from an easy 9 hole course to one of the most fun, scenic, and challenging courses in Texas, the Austin Golf Trail website has some good stay and play packages at local hotels and some great resots.

Azalea Golf Trail

Includes 7 courses in north east Texas, all of which are within an hour of each other. The courses range from a very traditional course built in 1933 to an excellent course that has been compared to Augusta National. Garden Valley in Linedale has an excellent stay and play package and it's not too far from the other courses.
