HIKING TRAILS

Welcome to the TexasOutside guide to hiking trails in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.  Each of these parks offers a unique experience for all levels of hikers.  If you are in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area, be sure to check them out.

Dallas County Hiking Trails
Breckinridge Park Located in  Richardson, it plays host to the city's annual Wildflower! Festival.The park has soccer fields, playgrounds, trails and a 10-acre lake.

Cedar Hill State Park Cedar Hill State Park, in the shadow of downtown Dallas, boasts grills, campsites, showers, lighted fishing jetties, sand volleyball courts, playgrounds, a swimming beach, trails for hiking and biking, a marina, two four-lane boat ramps and 355 campsites.
Cedar Ridge Preserve By day there is no cost to hike the ten miles of wooded trails, past a cattail pond, arriving at vistas and an observation tower with a surprisingly beautiful view of Dallas. Hikes can take two to three hours. Also look for the Mary Alice Bland butterfly garden and native plant nursery.
Park Trails in Garland, Texas Garland, Texas parks offer a several trails in parks around town. A favorite is the  wooded area along Duck Creek with native plants such as redbud and plum trees. Picnic tables available.
White Rock Lake Park White Rock Lake Park is the closest to nature you can get without leaving the Dallas City limits.  Whether you take the road or the hike/bike path, it's a nine- to 11-mile trail around the lake.
Bicycling in the Fort Worth Area and Texas This is a list of cycling events, training rides, and bicycle trails in the Fort Worth Area. Fort Worth, Texas is a great place for recreational cycling as well as bicycle rallies.

Tarrant County Hiking Trails
Northshore Trail, Lake Grapevine Grapevine lies about 15 miles from downtown Dallas. There are facilities forcamping, boating, picnicking and hunting, plus several trails for nature hikes, biking or horseback riding, and Meadowmere Park has a beach area set aside for swimming.
Trinity River Trails If you're up for the entire trail, you'll wind along the Trinity River south through Heritage Park just north of downtown, through Trinity Park, past the Fort Worth Zoo and its Miniature Railroad in Forest Park
