Address: 667 Sandy Mountain Drive, Sunrise Beach

Type: Lodging, Marina, Boat Rentals, and Restaurant

Last Visited: July 2007

Georg and Carleen bought Lake LBJ Resort & Marina in 2007 and spent the next 12 months redoing the entire resort and they have done an excellent job of making their resort an enjoyable and comfortable place to spend a weekend or longer.

All of the suite type rooms have been redecorated and refurbished and are a part of a two story structure adjacent to the marina and restaurant. The suites are the:

  • Lakeside Cottage - this 1600' suite is next to the pool and has a full kitchen, two bedrooms, and sleeps up to 10
  • Sandy Beach Cabin - overlooks the pool and lake, has a full kitchen, large living room, and can sleep 8 guests in the 2 bedrooms
  • Hill Country Lodge - the large living room, full kitchen, and two bedrooms are perfect for up to 10 friends or family
  • Romantic Getaway - this 600 square foot suite with a king bed, Jacuzzi, and wet bar area was designed for a honeymoon or romantic escape
  • LBJ Presidential Suite - you can sleep 12 in this 3 bedroom 2200 square foot suite with a view of the lake from the private balcony

Lake LBJ Resort is in a small cove off the larger Sunrise Beach cove and there is easy access to the lake, which is great for crusting, skiing, and other water activities. If you don't have a boat, just outside your front door are new top of the line pontoon boats, a ski boat, and a couple jet skis you can rent for a fun day on the lake.

The pool area is a few yards from each suite as is a deck with grills and a view of the lake and resort. The kids will have fun in the play area and the bigger kids/adults can enjoy a game of pool and the wide screen TV. The store has some basic supplies, beer and wine, fishing tackle, and boat gas. And one of our favorites is the Boater Bistro next to the store where you can feast on excellent meals in a very casual atmosphere directly on the lake.
